From Colombo’s modernized ports to the agricultural processing belts of Kandy and Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka is undergoing a strategic shift toward automated machinery and smart manufacturing systems.
Sri Lanka's tea industry is transitioning to smart sorting, packing, and CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) machinery. Miniature planetary gear motors provide the slow-speed, high-torque precision needed for sorting mechanisms and leaf-distributing conveyor systems, replacing manual labor with highly reliable automated drives.
As the garment capital of South Asia, Sri Lankan textile factories require high-duty micro-motors for computerized sewing setups, fabric feeding tracks, and automated packaging lines. Planetary drives guarantee consistent tensioning and wear resistance under three-shift factory operations.
With Sri Lanka heavily scaling up its solar capacity in dry regions, solar tracking actuators require heavy-duty planetary gearboxes. These gearboxes provide massive torque density to hold heavy PV panels against coastal wind loads while consuming minimal battery power.
To remain competitive, global buyers need more than just low costs—they need consistency, rigorous testing, and engineering depth. Here is how Zonix Motor translates China's manufacturing speed into global engineering success.
Planetary gear setups succeed or fail based on gear concentricity and pitch alignment. By utilizing world-class Chinese gear hobbing machinery and high-speed CNC milling systems, we maintain micro-level tolerances. This ensures equal load distribution among planet gears, reducing backlash and decibels dramatically.
Every single batch undergoes salt spray, life-cycle, noise room, and dynamometer profiling before export packaging. This guarantees that your shipment to Sri Lanka, Europe, or the Americas is plug-and-play, with documented torque curves and environmental compliance reports.
Our manufacturing plant is equipped with precision machinery to ensure the mechanical longevity of our custom gearboxes.
Designing motors that cope with high relative humidity (often exceeding 80% in Sri Lanka) requires specialized sealing, lubrication, and shell treatments.
Sri Lanka's tea export industry depends on fast, automated bagging machines. Our micro planetary motors drive the precision dosing rollers and sealing clamps. The high torque density allows these units to fit into tight machine recesses without overheating, maintaining a steady packaging line throughput.
As one of the busiest maritime hubs in South Asia, Colombo Port uses automated sorting conveyors and sorting gates. Brushless DC planetary gear motors (BLDC) provide long, maintenance-free operations and the precise control needed for sorting cargo routes under harsh tropical conditions.
In Sri Lanka’s dry zones (such as Anuradhapura), remote-operated irrigation systems rely on motorized water valves. Our compact, high-ratio planetary motors deliver the torque needed to open heavy valves while running efficiently on low-voltage solar power networks.
Modern luxury high-rises in Colombo require high-torque, silent micro-motors for smart electronic locks. Zonix Motor's micro-series fits inside standard lock mortises, providing quiet operation and over 100,000 cycle lifespans.
Why choose a planetary gear arrangement over spur, worm, or helical designs? For precision applications, the mathematical and physical benefits are clear.
In a standard spur gear configuration, load is transferred via a single contact point. In a planetary setup, the load is divided among several planet gears (typically 3 or 4) that rotate around the central sun gear. This load sharing allows a planetary gearbox to handle up to three times the torque of a spur gearbox of the same physical size.
For applications requiring precise positioning, such as robot joints or camera pan-tilts, gear play (backlash) can affect performance. Because planetary gears fit tightly together, backlash is naturally minimized. Our customization process allows us to supply ultra-low backlash gearboxes for robotics developers in Sri Lanka and worldwide.
Each planetary stage can easily handle reduction ratios from 3:1 to 10:1. By stacking these stages, we can achieve reduction ratios up to 1000:1 while keeping power losses low. Each stage typically maintains over 90% transmission efficiency, outperforming high-ratio worm gear systems.
